The “Balanced” Challenge

Family Life

Get Balanced!
Tricia Goyer Balanced

This post is part of the Balanced challenge with Tricia Goyer—and you can join, too!

I had not really considered myself a work-at-home mom until just this past year. However, my For Love of Words editing business has recently become a little more than just a hobby!

It’s all quite exciting, but it has also posed some challenges for me personally as I’ve not learned how to balance/separate/compartmentalize work time with home and family time. That’s why I’m so grateful there are others who have been in this life situation for much longer than I and have wisdom and insight to offer.

Tricia Goyer has written a book entitled Balanced: Finding Center as a Work-at-Home Mom and she is currently running a challenge to read through the book and blog about it. Here’s what she says about the challenge:

I love spring. It’s a time of newness, growth, refreshment. This year, I want it to be a time of rethinking the way you juggle working and parenting. My book Balanced just released, and I thought March would be the perfect season to challenge you to spring clean your life, to revamp the way you’ve been prioritizing your kids, work, volunteering, and other commitments you’ve made. You’re invited to take part in my challenge—and it’s really easy to commit to the eleven-day challenge!

Today is Day One of the challenge, which includes reading Chapter 1 and contemplating a few questions like:

  • What do you want to accomplish?
  • What values and godly qualities do you want to embrace?
  • What daily rituals do you want to be part of your life?

I’ve read the chapter, but truthfully I don’t have well-thought-through answers to these questions yet. As much as I would love to write about them right now, I’m afraid my answers would be too, um, “surfacy.” But I can promise that I will be thinking through them over the next several days.

So stay tuned. And if you haven’t signed up for new posts through email, feel free to use the form below.

She’s a great communicator and has a way of offering suggestions and feedback in a positive manner. Having an editor you feel is as invested in your work as you are is priceless. That’s what you get with Lisa.
