End of School Fun

Homeschooling

25 Jun

I think my husband is a pyromaniac.

He spent most of yesterday building and maintaining The. Perfect. Bonfire. The girls had been begging him for one for quite a while, and yesterday was the day. We were planning on going to see Cars 2 as a last-day-of-school fun day, but the movie sold out way before we got there. So we went to Panera for lunch instead. When we got home, the bonfire festivities began. It was a cool, misty, breezy day, which made it a great bonfire day (except maybe for the breeze!)

Since it was also Friday, we had our family pizza and movie night! We watched Evan Almighty. It’s a fun family movie. Despite it’s theological mistakes, the overall message is a good one, and there are some lines that really make you think. For instance, “When someone prays for patience, does God give them patience or does He give them opportunities to be patient?”

It feels good to be on summer break now.

Enjoy the rest of your weekend!

That looks like the perfect way to start summer!

And by the way, your back yard looks gorgeous.

Thank you! My mother bemoans the fact that we have all that room and haven’t put in a garden. But I’m just not a gardener!

The bonfire looks like fun! We have a place to build bonfires and plenty of fuel dropped by all the trees but haven’t used it as much as I’d like.

I love the movie Evan Almighty.

We haven’t used our fire pit as much as we’d like either. What is your favorite scene in Evan Almighty?

I love Evan Almighty but I love bonfires more! Looks like a great day. I hope you had fun and will enjoy many more bonfires over the coming months. I’m looking forward to Canada Day next week as my family traditionally gathers at my Grandparents for an epic bonfire that lasts well into the night.

    Happy Summer!

We were fortunate to have a friend who had a bunch of block that he gave to us. My husband decided to use it to build the fire pit! It really is a fun thing to have in a backyard!

    Yummy! I love smores!

I’ve always thought I should be careful about praying for patience. Seems that is one thing one isn’t just given. It has to be grown and stretched to grow some more.
