3in30 Challenge

Yes, this is my 3in30 Goals update post, but I have to tell you about something else first!

NewImage

We went to see the movie Dolphin Tale today as part of The Homeschool Movie Club‘s promotion. I’m so glad we went. I was a little sad that we were the only homeschool family at our local theater, but I know there were large groups of people all over the country who went to see the opening of it today. It was SO worth the time and money! The story is fascinating, heartwarming, and full of great themes like family, perseverance, determination, and friendship. I really appreciated the movie’s portrayal of quality education, including homeschooling! And yes, I cried at the end. What more could you ask for in a movie, I ask you?!

Anyway, this isn’t a formal review or anything, I just wanted you to know how good it is and that I would highly encourage you to see it. We’re going to be doing the unit study that is available from the movie club’s website on Monday. I’m really looking forward to it.

Ok, on to 3in30 for this week!

It’s a mixed basket actually.

Goal #1 of praying through 31 Days to Build a Better Spouse is happening! You might remember that, as of last Friday, I hadn’t started it yet, but I am now on Day 7. It really is a great way to add focus to my prayers for my husband. And, as a side note, because of this goal and Hellomornings, I am now consistently (well, mostly consistently) waking up at 6:30am in order to have a “healthy-for-me-spiritually-mentally-and-physically” morning routine! I know that for some of you, 6:30 would be sleeping in, but for me it’s early. Really.

Goal #2…for the life of me I cannot remember what this goal is…umm…I’m thinkin’, I’m thinkin’…now I’m going back to look at my original list. Be right back. (Cue Intermission music) Back now. Funny that I forgot this one because it’s the one I’m doing the best with! The goal was wrapped around limiting my computer time to a short time in the morning before school and then a couple of hours in the afternoon/evening. Last year I got into the bad habit of being online during school hours and it made for one distracted mom/teacher! I can honestly say I have broken that bad habit. Very glad about this one.

And Goal #3…let’s not talk about this one this week, pretty please?! I have done nothing towards coming up with regular chores for the girls. Noth.ing. Someone please send me links to awesome chore charts–maybe that will help get me motivated!

Now I’m just going to be randomly chatty because I feel like it. You can stop reading if you have more important things to do. I’ll understand.

Youngest daughter has a Tae Kwon Do tournament tomorrow. It’s nearby this time, which makes everything so much nicer. I was unsure if she’d be able to participate because she had been so sick for that week and a half. But, she wanted to go so badly, and she assured me she would be fine. So I’ll be spending much of tomorrow in South Bend with lots of other parents watching their kids try their best for trophies and awards. Right now I’m just hoping my child doesn’t fall down with a coughing fit in the middle of her form!

I didn’t run today. Had too much candy and popcorn at the movie and was rather sick to my stomach. Maybe I can talk my husband into going for an early run with me tomorrow. I’m still enjoying this running thing! First 5k will hopefully be in November. I still have a way to go before I’ll feel confident that I can run the whole thing though. I’m stuck on this 20-minute phase and it’s driving me nuts! Any suggestions?

All right, I gotta get off of here. I hope you have a great weekend!

She is now a 1st degree black belt (as of Sept. 1st!) She still gets pretty nervous at tournaments and testings, but she doesn’t let it stop her from competing.
