Happy New Year and the One Word for 2014

Christian Life

5 Jan

Yes, I know it is already January 5th and I’m just getting around to saying “Happy New Year!”

I was just having too much fun spending time with my family to be online. My parents were here over this Christmas break, and we were busy celebrating, playing games, putting puzzles together, watching movies, skyping with family, and simply “being” together. We even took the opportunity to spend an afternoon and evening on the Riverwalk in San Antonio.

Memory making.

And during that time, maybe even because of a couple of things that happened, my “One Word” came.

Life

The word: LIFE

The verse: John 10:10 (NLT) “The thief’s purpose is to steal and kill and destroy. My purpose is to give them a rich and satisfying life.”

My thief (obviously sponsored by THE thief) is fear, and it has stolen and killed and destroyed enough already. My Savior has promised me not only an eternal life with him, but ABUNDANT (superior, extraordinary, surpassing, uncommon, more excellent, more remarkable) LIFE (life real and genuine, active and vigorous, devoted to God, blessed even in this world) now.

Do I have it all figured out–how to move from fear to life? No.

I only know that I want it, will be praying for it, will be striving for it.

I’m excited to see what this year is going to hold–and truthfully, just a tad nervous! More big changes coming again this year. I’m glad to have friends like you who I know will pray me through it! 🙂

Life–praying that you remember and live your word this year! (I totally forgot what my word even was last year.) I pray that God will open your heart and bring you closer to life and further from fear.
