Homeschool High School Resources

Homeschooling

25 Mar

HS High School

Are you a mom currently homeschooling little ones? Have you had people ask you, “How long do you think you’ll homeschool them?” Have you ever answered, “At least through their younger years–I’m not sure about high school”? Does homeschooling your kids for high school seem like that picture up there: a steep climb that’s scary?

I promise you it’s not!

Part of the reason it isn’t is due to the amazing resources available for those who choose to walk that path.

My goal today is simply to share a few of those resources–and I assure you it’s only a few out of the multitude! So in no particular order, here is today’s list of:

Homeschool High School Resources

* Applecore–A complete system for recording grades, creating transcripts, keeping track of curriculum and classes, and more. It’s wonderful!

* HSLDA–There’s a ton of general homeschooling information here, but they also have links for specific state education websites where you can find graduation requirements. Very important stuff to know!

* 7 Sisters Homeschool–A treasure trove of information, helps, encouragement, curriculum, etc. These ladies know how to homeschool high schoolers, and they share their wisdom!

* Weird, Unsocialized Homeschoolers–Kris has lots of curriculum posts and ideas, plus great encouragement for how to raise teens, homeschool them, and LOVE DOING IT!

* Let’s Homeschool High School–There’s ways to connect with other high school parents here, ways for your kids to connect with other homeschool high schoolers, and an amazing amount of practical helps and tips. This is a great place to start if you’re just beginning to look into homeschooling through high school. They’ve got a beginner’s guide that is quite helpful.

* Education Possible–This is a link-up that I just recently found out about, but it looks to be filled with a variety of resources, encouragement, and ideas from different people.

* HomeSchool High Support–Connie, of The Daisyhead, started a group on Facebook for homeschooling parents of high schoolers. Have questions? Ask away! Searching for curriculum ideas? Get a feel for what others have used. Want to pass along curriculum you’re not using? See if anyone in the group might want it.

So, there’s just a few links to get you started!

From my own heart, I will say that I am so very glad we chose to continue to homeschool through high school. It’s been the right choice for our family!

Love your list!!! I’m always looking for new resources to help me homeschool my girls.

Thank you so much for adding in our new link-up, Finishing Strong!

We are thrilled to be able to bring together bloggers who write about homeschooling middle school/high school and the families who are looking for support as they continue on the journey of schooling these older students.

It’s every Wednesday and is hosted by 7 blogs. We even have our own Google+ community. I’ve learned a TON since we started!

I’m so excited that you found us! I hope you link up with us. 🙂

Funny when I started homeschooling my daughter I said I would play it by ear, but at least by grade 11 she would go back. I honestly never thought I would homeschool high school at all. Yet that’s exactly what we are doing this year. I’ve had previous homeschool moms tell me I was crazy, that no way would they do that.
In some ways it is very difficult and in many many others its not. I find it very similiar to what we were doing before.
I let her decide year to year if she wants to go back. She goes back and forth, but I think she actually really enjoys the benefits of homeschooling. (insert learning how she learns best)

Thanks for sharing, Sherri! Both our girls have been offered the chance to go to a “regular” school but they just haven’t been interested. Learning how they learn best, having the freedom to learn independently, being able to pursue interests, etc. are all great reasons to homeschool during high school!
