We are home schoolers. We have no need for a snow day! But, that’s exactly what we’re taking today. Because I am a pushover. And so is my husband, because ultimately it was his decision. My kids were begging to be let off and I bravely passed the buck to our “principal” for the decision.
Of course, you’ll probably not hear a whole lot of complaining from this teacher. So far, I’ve had a relaxing breakfast, read my Bible, did some writing, took pictures of husband and daughter and snow, and read a bunch of blogs. Now, husband and I are eating dark chocolate M&Ms and watching Bonanza episodes on TV Land–because some times you just gotta!
We did get a lot of snow yesterday afternoon, evening, and through the night and combined with the winds it created some huge drifts. Most everything around here is shut down today. We aren’t going anywhere, but we have everything we need right here, so I don’t mind. Last night I made chicken vegetable soup and it makes great leftovers for lunches! Every second spent over a hot pressure canner last summer was so worth it as I emptied a jar of potatoes, carrots, corn, and green beans into my soup.
My parents and brother on the West Coast called, and so did my sister in FL to see if we were surviving in the storm. I told them we were quite warm, safe, and content. I’m so very glad we didn’t lose power!
Here’s the pictures I took this morning:
And now I am going to watch Enchanted with my girls.
Barefoot footprints. You are one crazy lady. 🙂 I wanna come play in the snow and I think a snow day is well deserved, homeschooled or not.
Amazing, that is some snowstorm you all got! Glad your enjoying your day shut in. I don't blame you or hubby, looks like a fine time to take a snow day to me!
Oh my lands. A snow day, indeed. Great call by the principle! 😉
Wow you guys really got it!!! LOL on your barefeet!!!
So glad you called in a snow day, much deserved I think, and I love Bonanza!!! 🙂 Fun!
I see even more we have in commen: dark chocolate m&m's, chicken veggie soup, and a love for taking pictures to capture our treasured moments! One thing you won't find me doing, however, is stepping onto a snowy walk barefoot! Looks like you had a wonderfully blessed snow day. 🙂
@Lisa…It's nice to find others who share the same loves! You really should try walking barefoot in the snow! It gives you a great tingly feeling in your feet! : )
Looks like we are neighbors, as we got the same snow here in Illinois. The kids sure love it, me…not so much! I'd much rather play in the dirt in my garden!
We had a snow/sick day Wednesday too. I just didn't feel like pushing.
Can't imagine walking in snow in bare feet!
