Last year, my kids were gone on Mother’s Day. It felt strange. This year, my husband was gone. It felt strange.
But the day was still good. My oldest fixed a cup of coffee for me first thing in the morning. She puts just the right amount of cream and sugar in it! The service at the church we went to was really good. It was fun to hear one of the girls describe it later to her dad on the phone.
After church we came home and snacked, planted a few flowers, read together, and generally just relaxed. We had plans with some friends to do an early dinner at Olive Garden. I let the girls have the camera while we were there, and here’s a few of the shots they took:
When we got home from eating we had a nail painting party! It really was an enjoyable day, even if it was pretty low-key and simple. I did get to talk to my husband on the phone, which was nice.
I’m ready for him to come home.
