After my week of failing to work on my goals, specifically in the area of running, I thought a verse about running might be appropriate. It’s amazing to me how things that take place in our physical lives have direct application to our spiritual lives as well.
“Do you see what this means–all these pioneers who blazed the way, all these veterans cheering us on? It means we’d better get on with it. Strip down, start running–and never quit! No extra spiritual fat, no parasitic sins. Keep your eyes on Jesus, who both began and finished this race we’re in. Study how he did it. Because he never lost sight of where he was headed–that exhilarating finish in and with God–he could put up with anything along the way: cross, shame, whatever. And now he’s there, in the place of honor, right alongside God. When you find yourselves flagging in your faith, go over that story again, item by item, that long litany of hostility he plowed through. That will shoot adrenaline into your souls!”
Hebrews 12:1-3 (The Message)
I could use a shot of adrenaline in my soul! How about you? I hope you all have a great week!
(I’m linking up this post over at Unique Family Vision. Come read other Wednesday Word posts and be encouraged!)
Oh, that is so good! I NEED adrenaline from God instead of the rush of adrenaline from social media 😉 I love the part about Jesus never losing sight of his goal. He always knew why he was here. In fact, setting and writing that goal down or all of our goals down is so important to keep us focused. I regularly have to refocus on our “plan”. Thanks for linking up with The Wednesday Word today.
I agree Tammy! So good. Thanks for sharing from The Wednesday Word
I could truly use a shot of adrenaline in my soul right now. Thank you for sharing this verse. I love how The Message illuminates the Word.
Wonderful thought…and very encouraging!
I love that verse, good reminder. Though I personally prefer another translation of that passage. Hebrews 12:1 is my life verse, ESV style 😉
