Monday Meditation

Monday Meditation

19 Sep

I am currently reading through the book of Proverbs, and for the past several days have been running across verses like these:

“Better to live in a tent in the wild than with a cross and petulant spouse.” (21:19)

“Better to live alone in a tumbledown shack than share a mansion with a nagging spouse.” (25:24)

“A nagging spouse is like the drip, drip, drip of a leaky faucet; you can’t turn it off, and you can’t get away from it.” (27:15-16)

These verses from The Message all use the word spouse, but the NIV says WIFE in every case!

Oh dear.

Do I honestly need to inform my husband in an annoyed and scolding tone that his shoes left a dirt trail on the kitchen floor? Or do I need to simply clean up the mess with a serving heart. Do I really need to tell him that I don’t think he handled a situation in the right way? Or should I pray that God would give him wisdom to know the best thing to do.

(Insert your own example here)

I really don’t want my beloved to prefer a tent or a shack over living with me. May we as wives find ways to stop that leaky faucet this week!

I was taken aback when I read those verse a few weeks ago too!! Wow – I guess wives have been “nagging” for a long time!

I’ve started trying to curb my tongue and serve with a loving heart too!

    Point taken…
I have been rather contentious lately, but I have been trying to not share all of the grumblings. :/

    Awesome picture, by the way!

giggle! Yep, something that is easy to do when you train children (homeschool) all day. It is easy to carry over lifes lessons from the Children to a hubby when we shouldn’t! ๐Ÿ˜‰
