This past week marked the beginning of the Abiding Fruit study that goes along with Hellomornings. The passage we studied all week was Galatians 5:16-26, the “Fruit of the Spirit” passage. It was a very good study, and what really caught my attention was verse 26. It’s the verse I’d like to share with you this Monday morning.
“Since this is the kind of life we have chosen, the life of the Spirit, let us make sure that we do not just hold it as an idea in our heads or a sentiment in our hearts, but work out its implications in every detail of our lives. That means we will not compare ourselves with each other as if one of us were better and another worse. We have far more interesting things to do with our lives. Each of us is an original.” (The Message)
It makes absolutely no difference how great the study may have been if we don’t “work out its implications” in our daily lives.
Oh-so-much-easier to nod intellectual assent than to live it out.
I think God is trying to tell me something because in my Bible study we are studying Galatians, then I went to church yesterday (after struggling with attendance for the past couple of weeks) and the Pastor’s sermon is about Galatians, and now I come here and I find your post about Galatians too!
Hmmm…yep, it might just be that He’s trying to tell you something! : ) I’ve had that happen a time or two as well!
fantastic verse!! To be intentional about living is so important {and can be so difficult too}
