“Yet I still dare to hope when I remember this:  The unfailing love of the LORD never ends! By his mercies we have been kept from complete destruction. Great is his faithfulness; his mercies begin afresh each day. I say to myself, ‘The LORD is my inheritance; therefore, I will hope in him!’

The LORD is wonderfully good to those who wait for him and seek him. So it is good to wait quietly for salvation from the LORD.” Lam. 3:21-26 (NLT)

The book of Lamentations is not the most joy-filled, happy book in the Bible. I think that’s why this passage stands out. Jeremiah, in the midst of horrible circumstances and emotional upheaval, was able to find hope in God’s love and mercy.

What are you still daring to hope for today?

Waiting quietly is definitely not an easy thing to do at times!

Waiting is not, for me, a passive word; it is active. Yesterday at the restaurant I watched a very busy waitress at work. She was ‘waiting’ on us as well as on several other customers. When I think of waiting on the Lord, I don’t picture myself sitting still in a quiet, darkened room, doing nothing until he gives me what I want. I picture myself actively doing what is set before me to do, in his strength, and for his purposes, until he gives me my next assignment.

Good point! And “actively” waiting with contentment and a trust in God’s timing is where we’re at right now. It’s not always easy, but it’s where we should be.

“The LORD is wonderfully good to those who WAIT and SEEK Him.” The ‘wait’ and ‘seek’ are key words for me. As a Type-A, I want to control it all and hurry up His plans. Great verse for me to remember. Thanks for sharing, Lisa. This is fabulous! Happy Tuesday, friend. 🙂

I’m so glad it was encouraging for you!

Waiting and seeking definitely are two concepts that are so important, and yet so difficult at times! Our human tendency is to think that they aren’t enough.
