Monday Meditation

Monday Meditation

4 Feb

3 His divine power has given us everything we need for a godly life through our knowledge of him who called us by his own glory and goodness. 4 Through these he has given us his very great and precious promises, so that through them you may participate in the divine nature, having escaped the corruption in the world caused by evil desires.

2Peter 1:3-4 (NIV)

I was blessed to read a book over the past several days. A book written by my beautiful friend Kris Camealy. A book that is meant to be a companion through the season of Lent. A book that is as rich in depth as it is encouragement. A book that I will read again…and again.

Growing up in a church tradition that did not focus on Lent, it’s only been within the past 2 or 3 years that I’ve become more aware of the good that can come from “giving up” something and using the time for reflection. After reading Holey, Wholly, Holy, however, my journey through Lent this year will be much more than that.

Read just a few of Kris’ words:

“It occurred to me that perhaps what God calls us to give up, really, is ourselves. The paltry offerings we prefer to give up, while they feel challenging, are perhaps less pleasing because we fail to give up the one thing that stands between us and Christ. Ourselves. Only when we have given up our own ambitions and desires, from that death to self, can we be used to produce much for His kingdom.”

If you would like to buy a copy of this powerful book, you can get it HERE.

For a limited time, you can receive a free pdf copy of the book by signing up for Kris’ newsletter.

I would encourage you to get a copy for yourself and let God use it as part of His refining process in your own life during this upcoming season of Lent.
