Places I’ve Been

Family Life

29 Mar
Michelle at Heartfelt Balance/Handmade Life gave a link to a site that lets you show on a map the different states which you’ve visited. I thought that sounded kind of fun, so I gave it a try!

As you can see, I’ve missed out on the Northeastern states, which I really hope to remedy someday! I would love to visit New England in the fall. I’ve also missed out on the upper Midwest and Mountain regions and most of the South! I have some traveling to do, don’t you think?!

Actually, my husband and I get to go to a Strong Bonds marriage retreat in Minnesota in a couple of months, so I’ll get to add that state to my list.

Some of the states colored in are ones I’ve lived in and others are ones I have just been through or visited. I’ve lived in all 3 Pacific coast states, Colorado, and Indiana. After living in Indiana for the last 13 years, I still miss the West Coast somethin’ fierce!

One of my favorite trips was when we shared a cabin in the mountains in North Carolina with my sister and her family for vacation one year. The cabin was amazing, including a hot tub that sat overlooking a valley. Our kids had great fun playing together, and my sister and I sat on the deck in the mornings drinking coffee together and talking. Wonderful memories.

Another fun memory involves all those states straight across the middle. When I was a senior in high school, my parents took me on a driving trip across the country–from Oregon all the way to Pennsylvania! We had such a good time together. I wasn’t one of those teenagers who didn’t have any desire to be around her parents. I loved spending time with them, and with 4 kids in our house, that trip was a very special gift for me. We visited friends and family along the way and saw all the sights we could see. The car we were driving only broke down once, but even that became an adventure. It was a lot of years ago, but it is still a time I treasure.

So, that’s just a couple of my stories. Care to share some of yours?
