For Love of Words

Sad

Family Life

6 Jan

My mom has been with us now for almost 3 weeks, and she leaves tomorrow.  I always get sad and a little depressed when I have to say goodbye after a visit.  Add to that, my husband is leaving at the same time for a trip (for the Reserves).  So, all the pretty Christmas lights are gone, my mom will be gone and so will my husband.  Do you feel sorry for me?  I know, I know, it’s a good chance for me to rely on the Lord for encouragement and strength.  So enough pity party already!

I did get all the Christmas decorations put back in boxes and organized today, which was my goal.  As my husband was putting the boxes back in the basement, he decided that he needed to organize and clean out the entire basement!  I kept coming downstairs because he was making an awful racket, moving things around.  It looks so much better now though!  Our basement isn’t totally finished, but we have our family/tv room down here, and after his work today it’s much more comfortable.  He found some things too that had been in hiding under other things, and now I have some pretty pictures up that I didn’t before today!  I’ll take some pictures another time to show you (because one of them has a story behind it that I would like to share at some point.)  Anyway, I’m very happy with his project today!

I need to go to bed, but I’ll leave you with some pictures of my visit with my mom. My dad was here too, but he had to leave earlier.  Anyway, good night all!

Aaw! I don't know what I would do if I couldn't see my mom all the time. Nothing like a mom's cooking. Your dad is so handsome. He looks like a sweet grandpa.

I know the exact feeling 🙁 My parents live in ID so I don't get to see them that often and when it is time for good-bye it's all I can do to hold back the tears, because I don't know when I will get to see them again.

I am glad you were able to have a lengthy visit and make some more memories together.

I'll be praying for you today and over the next few days as your hubby will be gone as well.

Hoping the days aren't too long without your husband and Mom around. When my husband has gone away, I've taken the time to do a project.

By the way, this is Lady of the Manse–if you haven't figured that out yet.

Hey Karen! Do you have a blog on here or did you link from somewhere else? I was just thinking about you today and wondering how you're doing!

Gosh, yes, it must feel as if the lights all went out. I understand perfectly because I felt this way when my mother moved a mile across town. Hope that your mother is allowed to visit your blog and that she's computer savvy. It's so much easier to stay in touch that way.

I had to laugh when you said "As my husband was putting the boxes back in the basement, he decided that he needed to organize and clean out the entire basement!" – that reminded me of my dad, who was forever taking on major cleaning projects on a whim. I remember the time he decided to quick vacuum out the car just as we were getting ready to load up to go to church on Sunday morning – my mom was fit to be tied! lol! Lovely pics of your parents… I know it leaves a hole when they are gone after a visit.
