Thankful Thursday

Thankful Thursday

3 Nov

I’m linking this post up today with Tara at Undeserving Grace and 3 Thinking Mothers. I’m enjoying all the Thankful link-ups and themes that November has brought!

This post is being written on about 3 hours of sleep, so it will be short, sweet, and to the point! Today I am so very grateful for:

  • Opportunities to witness the strength, courage, determination, and perseverance of ordinary, but amazing, birthing women
  • A husband who “gets” my love of all things birth-related and encourages me to pursue my heart’s passions
  • This lady, and also This lady who inspire me to “Just keep running, running, running…” (Are you picturing Dorie?)
  • The uplifting Relevant posts I’ve been reading this week
  • The slow but steady transition away from textbook/workbook schooling to unit studies, interest-driven learning, and creative varieties of study.
  • Classic cartoons and tv shows (What are some of your favorites? We like Tom and Jerry, Looney Tunes, The Andy Griffith Show, and I Love Lucy.)
  • The servant’s heart encased in my youngest daughter’s self
  • Wrestling matches with her dad that my 13-year-old is not too old for
  • Examples in Scripture of those who learned lessons of patience and grace

I hope you can find things, large and small, to be thankful for today.

Thank you for linking up!! We are also trying to switch from textbooks to more interest-led learning. Ah, it’s really me…my kids would do it in a heartbeat! But I am trying to let go of my view of “what school should be”!

I’m so glad you started the link-up!

Um, yeah, it’s been me too that’s been the hold up for letting go of the “traditional” for school. My kids have been really appreciative of the changes so far!

    Lisa –

I love what you say about moving to unit studies and interest led learning and away from workbooks. Wow. That’s a huge step, but one that is so beneficial for our children. We are doing this, too – and I can see my children blossoming because of it.

Thanks for linking up with Three Thinking Mothers, and have a wonderful weekend!

Such a great list of things to be grateful for:) Thanks for sharing! Over the years, we’ve shifted to interest led learning and a unit study approach to learning. I have no regrets when I see my girls truly finding enjoyment in learning!

We love classic tv too- right now the girls (and Daddy) are on a mission to watch every single episode of The Andy Griffith Show on Netflix. We’ll see how far they get with that:) I love reruns of Lucy- the girls and I laugh uncontrollably at the messes she gets into. Our favorite is the chocolate factory episode!
