This is show week for theater, which normally means I’m a crazy person all week. But, I am the only one NOT going to dress rehearsals right now!
Both girls have parts in the show (Cinderella) and my husband is running spot lights. So I put dinner on the table early, usher them out the door, and actually have a couple of hours to myself.
It’s weird, let me tell you!
You would think that I would get a large amount of work done. You would think. So would I. Except, I’m not. I’m revisiting favorite movies, catching up on past episodes of Downton Abbey (thank you very much,ย Becky, for that obsession), connecting with twitter friends, and reading.
I’m trying (sort of) not to feel guilty about all the other things I could be doing.
I am writing now, though, and it’s very enjoyable because I love doing Thankful Thursday posts. There is a calming, joyful sense of God’s goodness–even in the midst of chaos–when I sit and deliberately think through what I’ve been given, and how I’ve been blessed. Here’s my list for this week:
- Getting our taxes done AND finding out about our refund!
- My Bible in 90 Days reading–seeing the big picture
- Our impromptu hot dog roast today (outside, over the fire in the fire pit–a Dad idea)
- Hearing the laughter of the girls with their dad as they watch old Looney Toons (Tunes?)
- Good discussions around the table
- My family’s colds are gone!
- The knowledge that my new nephew is being dedicated to the Lord this Sunday, and even though I don’t get to be there, both sets of his grandparents WILL be there
- My mother’s example of staying calm in a crisis
- Whole Foods is coming to our area–really excited about this!
- An opportunity to work on my ONE WORD for this year
- Our little homeschool
I hope you can find things, large and small, to be thankful for today!
ALL wonderful things for which to be thankful. I understand the guilty feeling of alone time. Mine is few and far between, but I’m so glad you’re indulging in YOU! ๐ And Downton Abbey! I’m in total love of that show. LOL Happy Thursday!
It’s hard to indulge, isn’t it?!
Glad to know you share my love of the show!
Oh, I have been trying so hard not to watch Downton Abbey as I know I’ll be hooked… But if you find the time and are keeping up with B90Days…. ๐
Beautiful list as always, Lisa! and enjoy that proud moment while watching your girls on stage! they’ve earned it!
Happy Thursday, friend!
Thank you Nikki!
I have been doing my B90Days in the early morning, to make sure nothing else gets in the way! It’s worked really well that way so far.
I’m looking forward to seeing my girls in the show on Saturday!
Great list friend! I’m scared to ask – what is Downtown Abbey?
It is a World War I period drama series on PBS. Gorgeous scenery, homes, clothing, etc. The very first episode had the most objectionable content (just a short snippet) but the rest of the episodes have been delightful.
What a great list! I’m glad Aurie asked first, since I didn’t want to be the only one, lol. What is Downtown Abbey? Cherish that alone time, however you choose to spend it and don’t feel guilty for a little self-indulgence! ๐ The hot dog roast sounds like so much fun. What a great idea! And, kudos on the taxes! Good for you! I need to get in gear with that one.
Hope you have a wonderful and blessed weekend,
Lisa
This is the first year in a long time that we did our taxes ourselves! We used a tax program, and it really was easy.
Downton Abbey is a series on PBS that is set in WWI time period. It is not for kids. The very first episode had a scene that I did not care for at all, but the rest of the episodes have been very good! The scenery, clothing, houses, etc. are beautiful.
Sounds great to me! I keep hearing about Downtown Abbey. I guess we will have to check it out on netflix
I kept hearing about it as well, and I thought I would go see what the hype was about. For the most part, I have enjoyed it very much!
I’m glad you’re enjoying Downton Abbey! It is something I’ve enjoyed as we’ve watched it.
I hope you’re girls have fun this week as they prepare to put on the show. You must be excited to watch them as they perform. Also wonderful to have a few hours to yourself!
I’ve got to say I’m a little jealous of the Whole Foods things…
The nearest Whole Foods was 2 hours away in Chicago. A friend and I would plan a shopping day there every few months, and while I will miss visiting Chicago, I’m so excited that I’ll be able to go whenever now!
Thank you for linking up!
God is so at work here…I have been feeling like I can’t think…I am just running from activity to activity, but I can’t think…and in almost every Thankful Thursday post there has been a reminder to SLOW DOWN and relax…seriously. We need that sometimes…to just watch Downtown Abbey or read a book. Our spirit needs that time.
When I saw your daughter in that pink wrap skirt…I thought she would get along GREAT with my girls!! Yay for colds being gone and winter hot dog roasts!
Wouldn’t that be fun–to get our girls together for a day of school?! : )
I have really enjoyed this past week of time in the evenings for me. Slowing down and relaxing is hard sometimes!
Great list! Can you send Whole Foods my way too? Pretty please?
