Sometimes, Thursdays totally sneak up on me! I’m not sure how or why they do that, but I don’t think it’s very nice of them. Of course, it doesn’t have anything to do with my disorganized, type-B (or whatever they’re calling it these days) personality–not at all!
But, I do have plenty to be thankful for, even in the midst of this post-Christmas, my-parents-went-home, school-started-again, the-lovely-snow-is-melting, I’m-tired-and-can’t-focus type of week! Yes, even then.
Today I am grateful for:
- The very nice two weeks we had with my mom and dad
- A successful audition for my oldest for Wizard of Oz
- Finding the motivation to put Christmas decorations away (except for the tree–I’m still enjoying the pretty lights first thing in the morning)
- The Iliad is finished! I’d been reading it out loud to the girls for school, and today was the last of it. Next up–The Odyssey. But they’ll be reading that on their own. Not for the faint of heart!
- The skills and patience of Amanda Pelser.
- A new #HelloMornings challenge coming up soon!
- A fresh year to read through the Bible again–although I’m not doing the Bible in 90 Days thing again. That was a great challenge, but I’m gonna take it slower this year!
- People who are praying for my family’s soon-coming changes
- An email from a friend who I hadn’t talked to in a while
- Listening to my husband tell stories of his childhood to the girls–he’s quite entertaining
- Christmas money that I spent on this:
It has an actual wood wick, so when I light it, it crackles and pops like a fire would. Love that sound! And the smell is wonderful too.
I hope you can find things, large and small, to be thankful for today. And by all means, if you’ve written a thankful post of any kind, link it up below! I only ask that you please use the pretty button that Theresa made for me or a text link back to here.
I’ve never seen one with a wood wick, I could use the sound of wood crackling here in Fl! And the Illiad–impressive! I didn’t see the linky thing up so I’ll share mine here: http://toshowthemjesus.com/2013/01/06/the-perfect-gift/
Blessings!
The linky was broken. ๐ It’s fixed now though, so if you want to come back and put it in now, you can!
I put my tree away and I sure miss morning time beside it’s lights. I was sad to see it go.Very happy list today:) I tried to link up but it wouldn’t let me. Not sure if there is still a problem or if I am just running on too little sleep! In the meantime: http://www.harringtonharmonies.com/2013/01/yellow-black-bean-rice-stuffed-acorn.html#.UO60NayWScF
OK it worked now:) All linked up!
Glad it worked! It’s had some issues the past couple of weeks because of a WP update. Anyway, thanks for linking up today!
Thanks for mentioning me and my business. Loving support bloggers like you ๐
And I am so glad you do!
Great list! Wow, the Iliad and the Odyssey. I am SO impressed. ๐ A wood wick sounds wonderful. There is nothing like that crackle sound. Hope you have a great weekend, friend!
I never had to read them in high school or college, so it’s been interesting for me! My kids are not quite as thrilled. ๐ I hope your weekend is a good one as well!
My girls are a little younger than your so we started them with The Iliad and The Odyssey in graphic novel form. That was a hit here. Good list!
That’s a great idea!
I hope you and your family have a good weekend!
Such a lovely post Lisa! I’m so pleased you had such a good visit with your parents. I like the twinkle of the Christmas tree in the morning too, but, mine’s been put away since January 1st…it’s a big job to put it all away, isn’t it?? It felt a little early to do the packing up, but, I was motivated to do it. Enjoy your tree for awhile longer…it’s so cosy! (One year I left it all up until nearly the end of January…by then I was so ready to have it all tucked away!)
Blessings to you!
Camille
There have been years where I’ve put things away on New Year’s Day, but this year we didn’t put our tree up until much later this season, so I’m holding onto it longer! ๐ Thanks for stopping by!
I just read this post this morning, and was reminded that even in the midst of trials and sad times, one can still be thankful. I’ll try to count my blessings while cleaning house today, but I don’t know if I’ll find time to post this week.
My youngest and I had a conversation about being thankful in the midst of chores she doesn’t enjoy. I could hear God speak to my heart as I was talking with her! ๐ I hope your weekend is good and you’re able to get the things done that you need to.
I love your Thankful Thursday. I love to hear My Sweet Hubby telling stories of his childhood too. ๐ We always have enjoyed his antics. Simply God’s Girl
It’s so much fun to hear my girls laugh at the crazy things he did as a kid! Thanks again for linking up this week. I enjoyed looking around your site!
