I love my kids. I love being a mom. I love being a homeschool mom.
But there are times…
…when it’s really nice to spend time with just my husband. And thanks to a friend who had my kids over the weekend, that’s exactly what I got. I cannot tell you how grateful I am for that time.
We didn’t go anywhere special, except out to breakfast one morning. We watched a couple of movies, laughed through several Andy Griffith episodes on Netflix, and spent lots of time talking. It was so needed.
I am very grateful that my girls had a wonderful time with their friends and were able to create some fun memories.
They spent the time away with a family we’ve been friends with since my oldest was just a baby. And even though we live a distance from them, they are people who we continue to spend time with whenever we can. They are the type of friends who will stick close in our hearts and minds, even though an even greater distance will soon separate us.
The greatest type of friends.
I’m glad my oldest got to participate in an Apologia Biology lab class with the co-op group which our friends are a part of. And I’m glad that my blogging friend Connie (The Daisyhead) was also there and took a picture!

On Sunday evening, after the girls got home, they had another unique experience with a group of friends.

A Dad and Daughters Date Night!
A group of 3 dads got together with their girls and had a nice evening out–formal dresses, suits, and everything! An acquaintance took professional pictures, which we will hopefully be getting soon.
I hope you can find things, large and small, to be thankful for today. And if you’ve written a gratitude or thankful post, please link it up below. Be sure to link back here somewhere in your post, and take a few minutes to visit others.
I am so glad that you got a weekend alone with your husband! It’s so nice to just reconnect. Jason and I just went to Trader Joe’s and Whole Foods and to lunch together last weekend and it was nice to have him all to myself!
Your girls are beautiful. I always wish I could be a fly on the wall in those Father-Daughter dances!!
What a cool experience for your daughter with your great friends and your blog friend!! So cool!
I’m glad you had a date afternoon with Jason! Sometimes even the simplest of things can be fun.
How special to have that time together with your hubby!
The photo of your girls and their dad is absolutely beautiful. I can’t wait to see the “professional” one, as well. What a special memory to have that time with him.
The science class sounds wonderful, especially when there are friends there, as well. ๐
I thought it was great that she got a chance to do a lab with her friends!
I’m anxious to see the pictures as well. ๐
How special for you! Right now the idea of 3 hours without the girls sounds lovely ๐
We both said that we didn’t realize how much we needed that time together until the girls were away. I hope you get some time with just Ken at some point in the near future!
Sounds like a lovely time away with your husband! Thanks for the great post & for hosting, & God bless!
It is always good to have date nights with your hubby.
Cool thing the Dads did for their daughters.
