Thankful Thursday–The Swimming Pool Edition

Thankful Thursday

5 Jun

This week, I am thankful for swimming pools.

Even though I did happen to get a tad sunburned today, the swimming pools that are available to us on post have been a huge blessing. We have the option to go whenever we want, it’s been a way to meet people (including other homeschool families!), and it’s a way to beat the heat and have fun at the same time.

(Unfortunately, I have yet to remember to bring my camera along for pictures.)

Because of the times at the pool, we have made some new friends, found out about homeschool co-ops and groups in the area, driven in and out of the military checkpoints enough that it’s not scary anymore, and gotten out of the house almost every day.

And a few other things I’m grateful for this week:

  • an actual office space in this house–it’s wonderful
  • new friends
  • the active on-post youth ministry that we found out about and visited–pretty cool
  • common ground–and interests
  • laid-back mornings with summer break
  • chances to read again
  • new bookshelves

I hope you can find things, large and small, to be thankful for today. And if you’ve written a gratitude post, please feel free to link it up below. It’s fun and encouraging to hear what others are thankful for!

Thank you for the loving reminder, I will do my best to be thankful more often. This week I am thankful that I can homeschool my boys, for visits from sweet dear friends and that my husband has a job. We sure miss seeing you and the girls!

Such a nice and uplifting list today. We love the on post pools. They are a great resource during the summer and often free or inexpensive! Just love our military community. I hope you are enjoying it. I tried to link up and had difficulty. Just thought I’d let you know in case it is on your end. I checked it several times and it’s saying it can’t find my post so I will try again later. Thanks for your wonderful Thankful Thursdays.

The pools are free here, which makes it even nicer!

I checked, and your post is now showing up. Not sure why it did that to you but somehow it worked anyway. Thanks for linking up! It’s a beautiful and encouraging post.

I am so glad you have swimming pools!! I can’t imagine the TX heat today. We are in t-shirts with our 60’s ๐Ÿ˜‰ Oh and I remember feeling so scared driving through the gates for the first time. Crazy!!!

I am so glad you are meeting people and finding groups. How wonderful is that??

I’m so happy for you! Moving is so stressful and it’s easy to wallow and feel alone. So, so thankful that you are getting out and meeting people ๐Ÿ™‚

So glad to hear that you are getting accliminated to your new area and that the post is welcoming and has an active community. That makes such a difference. When my husband was deployed, the kids and I spent many a summer day by the post pool. It really made us feel like we belonged. The other wives and kids there knew exactly what we were going through and we could support each other. ๐Ÿ™‚ That post unfortunately closed, so the closest one is now almost an hour away.

That sounds like a wonderful place to be right now. Here it isn’t even warm enough these days to go swimming. So glad you are meeting people and getting settled!
