Thankful Thursday–The Distracted Edition

Thankful Thursday

20 Feb

Ever had a week where it was impossible to concentrate or focus on anything in particular? Where nothing was exactly wrong, but it was just difficult to keep your mind on any one thing for very long? If so, then you understand what my week has been like.

Seriously, I spent a full ten minutes in Wal-Mart just trying to decide which laundry soap to buy.

But I am going to try to gather my fragmented brain together and make my thankful list for this week! In spite of the distraction, this week I am grateful for:

  • I’m kinda, justalittle, overthetop thankful for this, from Homeschool Blogging:

IMG 0326

(You’ll be hearing much more about this later, I promise!)

Β

  • Time with my husband this coming weekend
  • Andy Griffith on Netflix
  • An encouraging chat with someone I hadn’t seen in a while
  • “I’m praying for you” tweets in the morning
  • A safe trip taking my girls to spend the weekend with an out-of-town friend
  • More snow! I know many are longing for spring, but I’m not ready to let go of winter.
  • A surprise Valentine’s Day gift from my husband–I don’t have it yet, so sadly, I can’t show you right now.

I hope you can find things, large and small, to be thankful for today. And if you’ve written a thankful post, link it up! Somewhere in your post, please link back here and spend some time visiting others. Spread some encouragement!

Wow! I am SO happy for you! Congratulations. πŸ™‚ Of course, the gift from and time with hubby is awesome, too. And we’d be thrilled with some measurable snow here (at least the kiddos would be). We’ve had lots of little nuisance storms, but nothing significant. They want so badly to go sledding, lol! Did I tell you my husband’s retirement from the Army went through on the 13th? Such mixed emotions. Wish I could talk to you in person! Have a great rest of your week. Many blessings, Lisa

Hey, congrats on the conference!!! That’s cool! The girls get a vacation, you guys get some times together.. I bet that will help with that disorganized brain sensation. It must be something ‘going around’ because several of my homeschool buddies are talking about that brain burn out too.

Lisa, Congrats on the Sponsor thing, very happy for you. Time with hubby is always essential. Mine is deployed right now and it just feels a bit like limbo, but hanging in there. Luckily it will be a short one:) We got more snow too and I don’t mind either. I don’t plan to go anywhere and though I’ve been sick it’s nice to cozy up indoors with an e-reader, cup of coffee and time for nothing. πŸ™‚ Netflix sounds good to me too!

I had a similar week. My daughter has a skeletal jaw discrepancy. The orthodontist was able to widen the top jaw so that her bite is good, but there is still this facial thing that the ortho keeps talking about and it makes me sick. They would cut out part of her jaw bone and then pin and wire the whole thing back. I don’t like the idea. I didn’t even know she had this issue until the ortho told me, I just thought that was her face and I thought she was beautiful. The ortho is good about not saying anything in front of her. She can not have the surgery until she is 16 or 17 or sometime in adulthood. The good thing is that she can make the decision at any point in adulthood–it doesn;t have to be made now. But the whole thing has been making me nuts all week. Lots of anxiety, lots of prayer…lots of distraction.

I hope you enjoy the time alone with your husband this weekend!
