For Love of Words

Thankful Thursday–The New State Edition

Army Life

29 May

I know–it’s been a really long time since I’ve had my act together enough to provide this link-up. I’m so sorry! We’ve had lots of changes to deal with, and as my youngest so eloquently put it, “I’m kinda tired of ‘new.'”

But, as with any circumstances in which we find ourselves, there are things to be thankful for. Here’s a few of mine:

  • I’m truly enjoying the chance to shop on post and to experience some of the Army lifestyle and community
  • Even though we weren’t able to get a house on post (none available for quite a while) we did find a nice place to rent

House in Texas

  • Despite all the “new” around us, we’re still a family and we still have each other
  • My husband has tried to be understanding and patient with the emotional females in his house, even though I know there are times he’s wanted to pull his hair out!
  • While friends were here, we got a chance to tour the state capitol building in Austin AND visit San Antonio

San Antonio River Cruise

San Antonio

At The Alamo

  • I still have bloggy friends, even after a long absence
  • My HelloMornings group has been encouraging and moving right along with a leader who has been mostly absent
  • I’m learning lessons about myself and the God who never lets go of me

I hope you can find things, large and small, to be thankful for today. And if you’ve written a gratitude post, please feel free to link it up below and take some time to visit others’ as well.

I’m planning on taking some inside pictures (or maybe a video like Karen did). It’s got more space than we’ve ever had before!

Thank you, my friend! I’ve definitely needed those prayers. This has been quite the process.

It’s been a struggle in a lot of ways, but the whole process has stretched us in good ways as well.

It is big! Bigger than anything we’ve ever had. I’ve never had so much cupboard space in a kitchen before!

Believe it or not, I get the “tired of new” concept πŸ˜‰ While I love seeing new places, it can get old being the new kid on the block over and over again.

I am also thankful that you are keeping the perspective that family is important and that is who is around you πŸ™‚ The house looks lovely and we can’t wait to someday see the Alamo. My hubby has a conference in San Antonio every August, so he has been there a few times πŸ™ Did I ever ask you what your hubby is doing?? Is it CPE? That would be so cool!!!! We are also a CPE chappy fam.

It’s not CPE, although he looked into that at one point. He is going to school to get his MA in marriage and family counseling and to be a Family Life Chaplain. Army is providing the schooling, supervised counseling hours, etc. Very cool!

That is very cool!!! I hope you guys find your balance soon and get settled into a routine πŸ™‚ Sometimes it takes a while. Be patient with yourselves. This was a huge adjustment for you all, don’t diminish that fact. But nothing is impossible with God, eh? πŸ™‚
