Thankful Thursday–The One Where I Get Left Behind

Thankful Thursday

7 Jun

It’s late, I know, but technically it IS still Thursday.

I’m trying to find things to be thankful for, but this week has wrung me out a little. This is what was happening on Wednesday evening:

Our oldest left for a trip to New York City with her theater group. As much as it made my momma heart just a little nervous, I’m thankful that she’s a responsible girl and that she gets this amazing opportunity.

And then today, this is what my bedroom looked like:

Yes, it’s difficult, but I’m trying to focus on being thankful that he has this job, this ministry.

Even though I’m feeling left behind, I’m thankful that God holds my family in His very loving and capable hands. I’m thankful that my youngest and I get some one-on-one time together for the next several days. I’m thankful that I have friends who will pray when I appeal to them!

I hope you can find things, large and small, to be thankful for today.

I totally understand what it is like to have a husband who must be away a lot of the time.  If I had my way, we would never have spent a night apart, but that was apparently never part of God’s plan, because my husband has been gone a lot for work over the years.  The upside is that last weekend, my teenaged son told my husband, “dad since you took this job where you are away a lot, I feel like we’ve gotten a lot closer.”  I have seen hubby be a more deliberate dad when he is not home every night and that is a blessing.  Yes, jobs are hard to come by right now, so it is good your hubby has one and he is serving God and country.  You must be very proud.  Thanks for the post.

We are very proud of him, and very grateful for his job! That’s great that your son could recognize the positive aspect of his dad being away so often!

Keeping you and your family in my prayers, friend!  🙂  I couldn’t help but smile at the photos of your bed because that is exactly what my husband does to ours everytime he goes somewhere.

That’s funny! He says it helps him to know what size bag to take when he’s got everything out where he can see it all. I pack totally different, but I honestly think his way is better! : ) Thank you for your support and prayers!
