Thank-FULL Thursday

Thankful Thursday

18 Aug

Some weeks I struggle to come up with my Thankful Thursday list. That may be a bit surprising, but there are just those days/weeks when it’s easier to whine about what I don’t like than to be grateful.

This, fortunately, is not one of those weeks!

Today I am FULL of thanks for:

  • The fact that my husband comes home today!
  • A fun and encouraging talk with my neighbor and friend
  • EMealz–seriously, if you have not checked out this meal planning site, you should! (This isn’t an affiliate link, by the way, but I love it so much I am thinking about joining their affiliate program.) I have cooked more meals–that are actually really GOOD–in the last 2 weeks than…well, I don’t remember since when!
  • An excitement that is building for school to start
  • The opportunity to hear and be entrusted with someone’s story
  • Wonderfully cool mornings in which to run
  • The promise of Fall
  • The chance to be at the birth of a beautiful baby girl
  • The possibility of a new doula client
  • Great sales at the grocery store
  • Did I mention that my husband is coming home today? I’m pretty grateful for that.
  • The fact that my kids look forward to going to church

There’s more, but I’ll stop for now.

I hope you can find things, large and small, to be thankful for today. Take some time to celebrate what God has given you!

It’s been a rough year for us in that regard and it really is sweet now to see the change in them!

I sure am! It’s kind of funny because when he was deployed we were apart for a really long time and I did ok, but now 2 weeks seems like forever! : )

I’m going to check out E-Mealz. . .I’m in a rut when it comes to cooking right now.  I always do better in that department in the winter.
I’m thankful that I have a husband who will eat anything, even a sandwhich on those days I just don’t want to cook:)  I ususally add fresh vegies and fruit with it, does that make it better? 🙂
    Thanks for the site!

Yes! Adding fresh veggies and fruit with sandwiches makes a great meal! The thing I like about EMealz is that there are lots of options to choose from, and shopping lists to go with them! Have fun!

Well, now I can say he came home Thursday evening! But he has to leave again tonight, so the time is short. Thankfully, this trip isn’t nearly as long as the last one!

Hello Lisa.  I am so thankful to have found your blog today!  Not only have I enjoyed reading your older posts but also, I am so glad your blog is from the perspective of a Chaplain’s wife.  I owe my acceptance of Jesus to a reserve Chaplain in 2007 when I was deployed (I’m an Army Officer).  So I have a very special place in my heart for Chaplains. 🙂

Maria, I’m so glad you stopped by today! What a neat testimony to the influence of an Army Chaplain. I know my husband’s favorite part of his job/ministry is introducing people to Jesus! Are you in the Reserves now?

somedays when I thik I have nothing to be thankful for I look around and think about where we were 10 years ago. It seems like as soon as i start a list then it just starts rolling out of my brain. It reminds me to be grateful
