Weekly Wrap-Up: No, we’re not done yet

Homeschooling

6 Jun

Well, technically we have put in the number of days required. But that doesn’t exactly mean we’re really and truly done for this school year.

Weekly Wrap up

We’ve had shorter and shorter school days as subjects and books are finished, and we’ve begun looking at possible summer activities (pools on post are now open!). Hannah is headed to camp on Monday and Emily is looking forward to some time to write and draw.

Rabbit Run

This happened a few weeks back! It was a fundraiser for our local crisis pregnancy center and the first 5k that Hannah had ever done. I’m so glad we chose to do it! We’ve since talked about doing more runs/walks like this, but summer ones are daunting in the Texas heat, so we’ll see.

Oh, and starting sometime in July, we will have another driver in our household. Hannah is working now to get hours behind the wheel before she can take her test. She wanted to go ON her birthday at the end of June, but she is now going to a service project that week instead.

Getting back to school news, I know many homeschool moms who use this early summer time to figure out what curriculum to use for the next year and begin their ordering. I’ve even done it before. This year, not so much. For some reason, I’m lacking motivation.

The only things I know I’m going to use are Teaching Textbooks Algebra and Apologia’s Exploring Creation with Human Anatomy and Physiology for Emily and Economics for Everybody for Hannah. Beyond that, I have lots to figure out!

But for now, we’re going to take it easy, be in the “moment” of summertime, and hopefully have some fun!

Lisa is a great editor. She is thorough, and offers suggestions to help ensure my articles and ebooks are clear and concise. She’s a great communicator and has a way of offering suggestions and feedback in a positive manner. Having an editor you feel is as invested in your work as you are is priceless. That’s what you get with Lisa.
