We are now counting down the days of school we have left! That’s kind of fun.
What wasn’t all that fun was saying goodbye to my husband early Monday morning. What wasn’t fun was the world’s worst travel day for him–delayed flights, cancelled flights, storms, and a nasty cold. He is now safely ensconced in his hotel, enjoying his class, and feeling better. Whew!
The girls have had fun playing the classic game of Life this week. They started playing it as a computer game (yes, there is one!) but I suggested they get out the board game. After somewhat reluctantly agreeing, they discovered they actually enjoyed it.
I have been reading Amy Carmichael’s biography out loud and I have been so intrigued by her story. She was one determined, stubborn, bold, courageous lady! If you’ve never read the story of her life, I would highly recommend that you do.
We hit the books pretty hard earlier in the week, so when a friend asked if we wanted to take a road trip with her to Detroit (about 3 hours away) on Friday, I
jumped at the chance said yes. However, after we got to her house this morning, she found out that it wasn’t going to be the best choice to go.
Ok then, I have girls who are all ready for a road trip, their momma who doesn’t have any “regular” school plans, and a day stretched out in front of us. SO, we took a road trip anyway–to Chicago! We only live 2 hours away. It’s a great city and we’ve been there numerous times, so I’m quite comfortable driving around there.
We didn’t do anything major or exciting, but it was still a lot of fun. We hit Whole Foods, Sports Authority, and Rainforest Cafe. It was perfect weather for walking around the city!
I’m so glad we took the chance to go!
