What School Room?

Homeschooling

12 Aug

NewImage

There are moments when I really do wish that we had a room dedicated to schoolwork and school related supplies. Then there are times when I know my girls would not do nearly as well without the freedom to read curled up on a couch or stretched out on a bed, sprawl on the living room floor for math, or sit downstairs to watch a science dvd.

So, I guess it’s a toss-up for me.

Here are the places where learning happens in our house (and I did NOT clean things up for the pictures–just wanted to keep it real):

IMG 3032

This is where we most often start our school days

IMG 3030

This is our “school cupboard” and it sits off the side of the kitchen

IMG 3037

Much is done at this counter, including lunch!

IMG 3035

The living room is a favorite–please forgive the weird cat eyes

IMG 3026

My oldest has a desk in her room, but most often it is used as a cat perch

How fun! I love seeing other homeschool spaces 🙂 While I would LOVE a schoolroom, admittedly I love using our dining room table as well!

I like seeing what other people do too!
We spend quite a bit of time at the dining room table. There’s times when you can’t even SEE the table for all the books, papers, and supplies on it! 🙂

I love the way you keep it simple.  We have a room that has most of our ‘stuff’….but, we enjoy the rest of the house!

It is nice to be able to use all kinds of different spaces and environments–just one more thing that’s great about homeschooling, isn’t it?!

Yep, we have done the communal HS space more times than I care to admit.  I really like to have a space where I can shut the door and ignore all the papers that need correcting 😉  We won’t have that in this space either.  But oh well, guess that means I have to work on organizing the teacher’s desk, eh??  😉

I love that you placed a cabinet with doors for your materials! Homeschooling takes up so much of our homes (as it should), but we moms want to have a place to put it away if necessary! So smart!!

We have used that cabinet for many years now, and it’s showing quite a bit of wear, but I still love having it for supplies and books!

We’ve had both – a school room and the free roaming schooling and I think we all do better with the free roaming.  It looks great!  And I wish my house looked that clean when I didn’t clean before pictures. lol

Pretty much our idea of a school room too!! I have found my kids get too distracted when they are in the same room working on different subjects so we are spread out.
